Welcome to the website for ISHAPS - the Irish Spotted Horse and Pony Society!
ISHAPS was formed to meet the needs of the growing numbers of spotted horse and pony owners in Ireland. Whatever the breed or coat pattern, all spotted equines, large and small, are welcome!
Interests and Aims
Performance and Showing Classes To promote classes for spotted equines by supplying rosettes to show secretaries. An annual Open Show is planned, with a wide variety of classes to show the versatility of Spotted Equines. Performance/pleasure awards scheme for members whereby points are accrued for successful participation in a variety of disciplines including showing, hunter trials, show jumping, dressage, LDR etc. National awards for those members accruing the most points in each section, and Champion and Reserve trophies.
Social Events To promote the exchange of view and bring together members. To organise trips and functions of interest to members. To promote trade with other countries and help junior members find employment with Studs, Livery yards etc. owned by members both her and abroad.
Breeding To help organise breeding policies by promoting stallions and encouraging mare owners to use quality stallions. To ensure that rate lines are preserved for future generations. It is hoped that individual members will help in this by standing stallions at stud at a reduced fee to fellow members.
Welfare To help spotted equines in need where ever possible. If required, to help rehoming spotted equines in conjunction with horse and pony rescue centres, as well as individual members prepared to take needy equines.
